We’re approaching a year of homeschooling a 1st grader, a pre-kindergartener, and a preschooler.
As my kids are transitioning from being babies to being early elementary ages, we’ve gone through many different daily rhythms in our homeschool to try to accommodate nap times, potty training, outside free play, and time for me to work on my home business.Ĭurrently, my kids are almost 6, 4.5, and 2.5. This will be different for every home and every family. It has been helpful for me to step back from my ideal expectation about how our day “should” look and instead focus on how we actually work best as a family from waking up to going to bed at night. But fear not! We’re all in this together, and you can do it! If you’re more like me, then steadily sticking with a consistent rhythm and being kind to yourself when you don’t get to check everything off your list each day might be more challenging. If you and your kids naturally enjoy structure, then planning and executing a homeschool schedule might be fairly straightforward. This can be both a pro and a con, depending on your family’s overall personality. Homeschooling offers families so much freedom to be themselves.
